Custom Sessions Breakthrough Therapy Intensives
EMDR, Brainspotting & somatic healing for high-achieving women: in person in CT, online across NY.
When you’re tired of talking —and ready to work on it differently.
You know what the problem is.
You may even understand exactly where it comes from.
You’ve thought about it, talked about it, analyzed it, and maybe spent years in therapy trying to change it. And yet… something still isn’t shifting.
You keep having the same reaction. The same fear. The same pattern.
The same relationship dynamic. The same block.
You’re not looking for more insight. You want something to actually change.
That’s where breakthrough sessions can help.
The Problem with Weekly Therapy
What is a Therapy Intensive?
I prefer calling them Breakthrough Sessions or Customized Sessions, because intensives aren’t as intense as they sound.
A therapy intensive (breakthrough session) is a customized, extended, focused session designed to give us the time and space to work deeply on one specific issue that feels stuck.
Instead of trying to make progress in 50-minute increments for weeks on end, we have several uninterrupted hours to slow down, get underneath what’s happening, and work with it from multiple angles.
My approach combines EMDR, Brainspotting, body-based and experiential approaches, parts work, therapeutic yoga, and other evidence-informed techniques.
We don't decide ahead of time exactly which approach we'll use.
We follow what your particular issue and system needs.
The goal isn't to cram months of therapy into one day. It's to create enough space for meaningful work around something that has been difficult to shift in a traditional therapy format.
Who This Is For
Breakthrough Intensives are designed for you if:
You've already done some therapy and don't want more of the same.
You are comfortable doing focused emotional work.
You have a specific block, issue, pattern, fear, relationship, transition, or goal you'd like to work on.
You want a more concentrated experience than weekly therapy provides.
You're ready to be an active participant in the process.
Note: EMDR & Brainspotting aren’t just for trauma; they can be used for performance enhancement to reach potential in areas such as athletics, business, performing, and relationships.
What can you bring to an intensive?
It doesn't have to be a traditional "therapy problem."
In fact, some of the most interesting intensive work is around things that are very specific.
Maybe you:
Know you're capable of something, but your body seems to shut down when it matters.
Keep getting disproportionately activated by a particular person.
Have a fear, block, or pattern you've been unable to move through.
Keep having the same reaction in relationships even though you understand the pattern.
Are facing a major transition and feel stuck about how to move forward.
Have something you've talked about extensively in therapy but still can't seem to change.
Feel like you're ready to go deeper than weekly therapy allows.
You don't have to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong. I will help you get specific in our intake session.
You just need to know what you want to be different.
Intensives are not the right fit if you're:
In immediate crisis or needing stabilization
Actively suicidal or recently so
Using substances in a way that would interfere with the work
Looking for a quick fix without readiness to engage
What transformation actually looks like
Every intensive is different, but clients often come hoping for:
More freedom.
Less reactivity.
A different relationship with a person or situation.
More confidence in their own responses.
A sense of movement after feeling stuck.
A clearer understanding of what has been getting in the way.
A concrete way to continue the work after we finish.
Sometimes the change is dramatic. Sometimes it's subtle but meaningful. And sometimes an intensive simply gives us enough information to know what needs to happen next.
There is no promise of a single-session cure.
There is, however, an opportunity to give something that has felt stuck your full attention.
What Makes This Different
A truly integrative approach
This work is experiential.
It isn't simply several hours of sitting on a couch talking about your childhood. And it isn't about forcing a breakthrough.
It's about creating the conditions for something to shift.
Most intensives offer one modality. I weave several together based on what your nervous system, body, and history actually need:
EMDR & IFS-informed EMDR for trauma resolution and parts work
Brainspotting for accessing what talk therapy can't reach
Therapeutic yoga & somatic practices for nervous system regulation
Breathwork & grounding for safe entry and integration
Because we're located at The Bridge Healing Arts Center in Farmington, CT, you can build your intensive into a true retreat experience. Add massage, reiki, sound healing, sauna, or quiet meditation space between sessions. Lunch and snack breaks happen at the on-site cafe.
It's the depth of intensive trauma work, in a setting designed for healing.
Ready to feel different?
Sometimes the issue is surprisingly specific.
A performer came to me because they had blocks that showed up on stage and nothing they tried was changing it.
They didn’t need to practice or perform better—they needed to understand and work with what was happening when the pressure was on.
Another client came because they were exhausted by how much one person's behavior affected them. They understood that the person's behavior wasn't something they could control, but they couldn't stop getting pulled into the reaction.
They wanted to stop giving that person so much power over their internal experience.
These are the kinds of issues that can be surprisingly difficult to change through insight alone. You don't have to spend another year processing the same thing one week at a time. Let's talk about whether a Breakthrough Intensive is the right next step for you.

Meet Jenn Hoffman, LCSW
Trauma therapist · Certified Therapeutic Yoga Specialist · EMDR & Brainspotting trained
After years of working with ambitious, high-performing women, I noticed the same pattern: smart, capable women who'd done plenty of therapy and still felt stuck in their bodies and their lives. Weekly therapy gave them insight. It didn't always give them change.
Breakthrough Intensives are how I help women get to the change. By combining EMDR, Brainspotting, and somatic work in focused, contained blocks of time, we can move what weekly therapy can't, and you walk out feeling it, not just understanding it.
I'm licensed in Connecticut and New York and see clients in person at The Bridge Healing Arts Center in Farmington, CT, or virtually anywhere in CT or NY.
FAQs
-
For some clients, yes. The intensive format is designed to create deep, focused progress in one block of time. Some women come for one intensive and feel complete. Others choose to do a series, or add ongoing weekly support afterward. We'll figure out what makes sense for you on the consult.
-
Not as intense as it sounds. “Intensive” refers to the length and focus of the session, not the emotional difficulty. The sessions are carefully structured with grounding, somatic practices, and integration time. Most clients leave feeling lighter, and tired in the way you're tired after a good workout, not depleted.
-
No. Every intensive includes nervous system regulation work at the start, contained processing in the middle, and integration at the end. You're never pushed past what your system can hold. Pacing is collaborative.
-
Intensives are not covered by insurance due to their extended, customized format. I offer a sliding scale program for those who qualify.
-
That's often ideal. Many clients use intensives alongside their ongoing weekly therapy to break through a specific block or accelerate progress on a particular goal. I'll coordinate with your therapist if you'd like.
-
In-person sessions at The Bridge Healing Arts Center are the deepest experience because of the somatic and adjunct support available. Virtual intensives are available for Connecticut and New York residents and work well for clients who prefer their own space or can't travel.
-
I'm licensed in CT and NY, so virtual intensives are available to residents of those states. For in-person, many clients travel in for a multi-day intensive and treat it as a healing retreat. The Farmington area has plenty of lodging within 15 minutes of the center.
-
A 50% deposit reserves your intensive. Deposits are non-refundable within 14 days of your scheduled session. Rescheduling more than 14 days out does not affect your deposit.
-
I do offer a limited amount of slots in my sliding scale program. If you wish to apply, please set up a consult call for more info.
