Reconnect with Your Body. Restore Your Balance.

Yoga That Meets You Where You Are

Not athletic. Not performative. Just deeply healing.

If you’ve ever felt like yoga “wasn’t for you”—maybe it seemed too fast, too physical, or too overwhelming—you’re in the right place.

At Instar Healing, yoga therapy is not about flexibility, fancy poses, or pushing your limits. It’s about slowing down, reconnecting with your body, and learning how to feel safe inside yourself again.

Rooted in the tradition of Hatha yoga and grounded in clinical understanding of trauma and the nervous system, our yoga therapy is:

  • Gentle and accessible, even if you’ve never done yoga before.

  • Intimate and personalized, often one-on-one or in small therapeutic groups.

  • Focused on healing, not performance or aesthetics.

  • Trauma-informed, so your safety and comfort always come first.

You won’t find power flows or heated rooms here. What you will find is a calming space to breathe, move slowly, and be supported as you reconnect with your body in a way that feels nourishing—not scary.

Who This Is For:

  • People who feel disconnected from their bodies or emotions.

  • Survivors of trauma who want a gentler way to heal.

  • Anyone living with anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, or feeling stuck.

  • People curious about the mind-body connection and how movement can support emotional healing.

This isn’t fitness—it’s nervous system care, and it’s designed to meet you exactly where you are.

At Instar Healing, we believe that true wellness encompasses both mind and body. Our yoga therapy services are designed to support individuals navigating trauma, chronic pain, stress, and other health challenges through personalized, evidence-informed practices.

  • Yoga therapy is a holistic approach that adapts the principles and practices of yoga to address specific physical and mental health conditions. Unlike general yoga classes, yoga therapy sessions are tailored to the individual's needs, focusing on therapeutic goals and integrating techniques such as movement, breathwork, and mindfulness.

  • Led by Jenn Hoffman, LCSW, TIY-200, our yoga therapy integrates clinical expertise with somatic practices to offer a compassionate and individualized healing experience.

Drawing from trauma-informed methodologies, we create a safe space for clients to explore and heal.

    • Trauma and PTSD

    • Anxiety and Depression

    • Chronic Pain and Fatigue

    • Autoimmune Disorders

    • Stress-Related Conditions

    • Prenatal and Postnatal Support

  • After the initial intake, a typical session lasts about an hour and includes:

    • a check-in to see if there are any injuries or physical constraints

    • a sequence of yoga poses designed for you with trauma-sensitive language and personal pacing

    • a session may include breathwork, chanting and meditation based on personal preference. This is also done at your pace and level of comfort

    • Space to process emotions that arise—verbally or in quiet

Sessions are offered in-person in Farmington, CT or virtually, and are personalized for your needs. You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t even need to own a yoga mat. You just need a willingness to show up for yourself.

  • No, Insurance doesn’t cover yoga therapy.

    However, there are possible options:

    • We can accept HSA and FSA debit cards.
Please note: The IRS requires a letter of medical necessity to use HSA and FSA funds for yoga therapy.
This letter is for your records—we do not need a copy.

    • Victim Compensation Program: If you are a Connecticut victim of domestic violence or sexual assault, you may be eligible to apply for reimbursement for yoga therapy to support your recovery through the OVS Victim Compensation Program. Learn more at the OVS website.

    • Medicare Advantage Plans: Some Medicare Advantage plans offer reimbursement for fitness programs as a benefit. If you have one of these health insurance plans, you may be able to submit costs of yoga therapy for reimbursement. We are happy to provide you an itemized receipt.

  • Intake and subsequent sessions are $200 for 60-minutes. We recommend at least 5 sessions and these can be bought in advance with a discount. Visit the Self-care collection page to purchase.

Our goal is to empower you with tools that promote healing, resilience, and self-awareness.
