Healing Through Therapeutic Yoga: A Body-Based Path Back to Yourself

When most people think of yoga, they picture a fast-paced flow or athletic poses that feel intimidating, inaccessible—or irrelevant—if you're struggling emotionally. But what I offer isn’t that kind of yoga.

As a Certified Therapeutic Yoga Specialist and trauma therapist, I use body-based practices to help clients feel safe again—especially in their own skin.

So What Is Therapeutic Yoga?

Therapeutic yoga uses the foundations of yoga—breath, movement, mindfulness, rest—in ways that are adapted to support your unique emotional and physical needs. It’s especially helpful for people dealing with trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, or feeling disconnected from themselves.

Therapeutic yoga is not about flexibility or performance. It’s not about “doing it right.” It’s about meeting your nervous system where it is—and giving it tools to unwind, release, and restore.

What Makes It Different?

In a therapeutic yoga session, I draw on:

  • Gentle movement to reconnect with your body and release tension

  • Breathwork to regulate the nervous system

  • Mindfulness to help you stay present and grounded

  • Restorative practices to allow deep rest, integration, and healing

These sessions are trauma-informed, meaning everything is invitational and paced with care. You’re in charge at all times.

Why It Works When Talk Therapy Isn’t Enough

Trauma and stress don’t just affect your mind—they live in your body. You may know you're safe, but your body still feels guarded, tense, or shut down. That’s where therapeutic yoga can help.

You don’t have to talk your way through everything. You can breathe, move, and rest your way toward healing.

It Helps You:

  • Notice the signs of overload before you hit burnout

  • Calm your body without having to explain anything

  • Rebuild a sense of internal safety and control

  • Reconnect with yourself in a deeper, more compassionate way

Who Is It For?

Therapeutic yoga is for you if you’re:

  • Navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, or chronic stress

  • A caregiver, therapist, teacher, or healer who needs your own support

  • Looking for a mind-body approach that honors both science and softness

  • Tired of feeling stuck—and ready to try something different

You don’t need experience. You don’t need to be flexible. You just need a willingness to breathe and begin.

What a Session Looks Like

Sessions are one-on-one, personalized, and gentle. We might explore breathing practices, supported poses, mindful movement, or guided rest. We’ll go at your pace, with no pressure or expectations.

You don’t need special props or clothing. Just a quiet space, a willingness to try, and maybe a yoga mat or chair.

If you’d like to experience how this kind of body-based support can help you feel calmer, clearer, and more connected, I’d be honored to guide you.

You’ve carried a lot. You don’t have to carry it alone anymore.
